You can guess what comes next, almost a year later..

So after using the BT550 for a little under a year, I just couldn’t take it any more. The mouse would seem to take forever to start after I stop using it for even a few seconds! I don’t know if it got worse over time or whether my patience was just wearing thin.

So I went back to the beginning. I decided to open up the field to all wireless mice. My basic criteria were: it must be wireless, it must not require tons of battery changes, it must not require anything sticking out of my laptop, and it must be small.

After doing some research online, I came up with new option: the Logitech Nano series. These are wireless non-bluetooth mice, but with a tiny little receiver. There are several versions of these, and I decided on the V450 Nano. I did consider the <a href=VX Nano but I read some things about its scroll wheel being annoying (which would turn into a big deal for me), and seemed like it would be too small.

Yes, it still sticks out of my laptop, but I can keep it in all the time and forget about it. The main advantage to going to a non-Bluetooth mouse is that it does not need as much power as a Bluetooth mouse. This means it does not need to go to sleep mode as much and that the batteries (should) last a long time. The claim is that they last a few months with heavy use. The mouse has an off/off button on the bottom so I can turn it off when not in use to conserve even more power.

Size-wise it is a little smaller than the Radtech, and is actually a little more ergonomic. See the picture below:

So far, I love it. The mouse is much more responsive than the Radtech. If the battery lasts as long as it is supposed to, this might be the end of the line for me!

I had previously detailed my search for the perfect wireless mouse, which ended with me being satisfied with the Radtech BT550.
