We woke up early for a taxi ride to town so we could take the ferry to Cozumel. The ride on the ferry took about 30 minutes. When we arrived, we waited for the catamaran to come pick us up. There were about 25 people on our catamaran, which was run by Fury Catamarans.
The staff was very friendly and there were free drinks, so who could complain? The first snorkeling stop was nice with lots of small fish and shallower water. The second stop was really deep water and you could see the bottom. There were more reefs and more interesting looking fish. This was my first enjoyable snorkeling experience. Now I know that it’s possible. The catamaran stopped at a private beach for lunch where they served “Cheeseburger in Paradise”. It was a beautiful beach with a nice view of the ocean. I played a little bit of volleyball with some of the other people on the catamaran.
After lunch, the catamaran headed back to town. It was a great ride; we stood on top of the catamaran and got sprayed by all of the sea water because we were going so fast. Walking around Cozumel, I bought a Cohiba cigar. I don’t normally smoke but hey these are Cubans right?
We walked around Cozumel for a while, then hopped the ferry back to Playa. On the ride back, it was super wavy, windy, rocky and wet. Some people were looking rather seasick.
We took a cab back to the hotel and passed out from our busy day. That night, we had dinner at Tramonto Restaurant, which was the hotel’s finest restaurant. Everyone had recommended it to us, whether it was guests or staff. We had red wine, steak and baked potato. Yummy. It was a good way to spend our last night in Mexico.
